The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
A small incision (about 1 cm) is made near or below the belly button.
Carbon dioxide gas is introduced into the abdomen to create working space.
A laparoscope (a thin telescope with a camera and light) is inserted to visualize the abdominal cavity.
Additional small ports are used to insert instruments.
The fallopian tubes are blocked using rings, clamps, clips, or electrocautery (electric current).
After the procedure, the laparoscope is removed, gas is released, and the small incisions are closed.
